Revalation..was it personal?
by Burger Time ini am sure this has been brought up in the past..
was john's revelation supposed to be simply john moving over to the afterlife?
by this i mean instead of being some grand prophecy, could it have been our own personal armageddon?

Your probably right Leo, just wondered why people don't take Revelation as personal thing...

Help ! Two of my boys (13 and 10) want to become publisher
by Ancientofdays ini know this day would have arrived , sooner or later.. .
i'm inactive from 1 year now, and i go to the meeting just sometime on the sunday.. but my wife is in a very well standing , and the kids are following her at meeting and service field.. .
yesteray evening my wife told me that my 2 boys asked the elder to become publisher.. they are 13 and 10 age.. the elder was very polite , and ask my wife to have my opinion regarding this.. i'm going to talk the oldest boy (not taking in consideration the 10 yrs old one).. i would like not to be so drastic and not offend him, but i have to start some point to tell him some truth regarding this organization .. any suggestion ?.

I would ask all the questions suggested but reassure him it is his decision and you will support him either way. As was stated before by another poster..if you push too hard teens have a way of pushing back. So just let him know you will support him either way.

Revelation weekly Book study review
by still_in74 inoompa said: still_in74 you have so much passion for truth at climax study that i demand that you post your observations post bookstudy every week!
so when i comment i can say "oh yes, the issue of government was a burning issue of the day because it says so right here in the paragraph, so thats what this prophecy in revelation means!).
there's what the falling star means !

Who else is tired of the Just Get Over It threads?
by sass_my_frass ini have started this thread so that every time i see a new one i can point out how old that idea is.
congratulations.
it's great that you have obviously been able to get out without being harmed in some way - really, i'm happy for you.

True that greendawn and I personally agree with you....I guess at the same time I can see the human aspect(I understand they make themselves appear super human)...which makes me an outsider since I don't have much baggage from being part of the Org in a major fashion. So again I have no idea what you guys are going through or went through. Just what I can see. So I find it strange so many harbor JW mentality while at the same time trying to distance themselves as far away as possible.

greendawn I am not giving them a pass at all...let me rephrase what I was trying to say. The GB members probably have talked themselves into believing the lie. They say, "well we must choose option A. because option B. would be worse.". We do this often in business and personal relationships. We may realize that option A is not the best but option B would cause more turmoil. I don't judge them as evil for simply following human motives. I also don't apologize for them either. What irks me often about some people on here is that again everything the GB does must be some evil plan. Judging them on everything is just as bad as them judging us on everything.
I in no way endorse telling people to "just get over" anything (I am sure I have been guilty of this in the past also). I have always been independent from religious type things, and have a loving JW family so I have no idea what most of you are going through. I also have tons of pity for people like Oompa who have to not only deal with a break from religion but possibly the implication of breaking from a wife. What I do dislike though is the attitude that it is OK to treat Witnesses the same way they treat most of us. It baffles me that someone could make 1000 posts on how bad shunning is, then say they want to shun their JW family for not following their "rules". That is what annoys me. There seems to be this overly bitter must get revenge mentality here with some people. That is all I am trying to say

Was John's Revelation supposed to be simply John moving over to the afterlife? By this I mean instead of being some grand prophecy, could it have been our own personal Armageddon? I personally think that it has nothing to do with prophecy but was just what was supposed to happen after you die. The middle part of being judge. Instead of taking it literal does anyone else take it as something like I do? If you need more explanation of what I think just let me know. IF this has been posted elsewhere also fill me in.
Let me rephrase this...could it be a personal prophecy to Christians as to what they are going to go through after death. I am aware of the 1 chapter saying it's a prophesy.

My biggest problem isn't that people need time to get over it. It just seems like there is this mentality of EVERYTHING they do HAS to be evil. I even understand why some might think that, but most of the leadership probably honestly believes they are doing what's right. This isn't giving them a pass, I'm just saying a lot of the times people on here are quick to judge people who are quick to judge.
